15 races, seven stakes’ events at Hippodrome 3R

This Friday at the Hippodrome 3R there will be a special 15-race program starting at 4:00 pm and featuring seven stakes’ races.

A total of 48 two-year-olds will compete in the seven second-round divisions of the Future Stars Series. Three divisions for the pacing fillies, two divisions for the pacing colts and one division each for the trotters.

There are three legs in each division and in order for a horse to make the $55,000 finals on September 12, each of the eight finalists must have competed in at least two of the three legs.

The pacing fillies start off in the $6,500 6th race where undefeated Godiva Shadow Girl (Shadow Play) drew the rail for driver Robert Shepherd. In the opening round of the series, Godiva Shadow Girl took her current lifetime mark of 2:01.1 and seeks her fourth straight win.

The $6,500 11th race second division has three competitive fillies in YS Bookwriter (Sportswriter post 3), YS Poisson Davril (Sportswriter post 4) and Ladycorona (Bettor’s Delight post 2).

Then in the final $6,500 division for fillies, race 13, features Pocahontas Du Lac (Betterthancheddar) in post seven for driver Pierre-Luc Roy. She won her first start in the series in 2:02 and was bred and is co-owned by Louis-Philippe Roy with his older brother Pierre-Luc.

The pacing colts get underway in the $7,500 4th race first division where all of the starters are still pari-mutuel maidens. Maximus BG (Artspeak) and Albert Alpha (He’s Watching) are the two favorites.

Then in the $7,500 8th race second division co-feature Little Diamond (Sportswriter) in post three for driver William Roy. Little Diamond has won his last two starts, including an opening round division, the fastest mile in 2:01.1.

The two-year-old trotting colts race for $10,000 in the 5th race with nine starters. C Un Bon Deal (Wheeling N Dealin) from post 4 is the favorite for driver Francis Picard and is coming off an impressive 2:02.4 win in his last start. Also in the race is opening round winner Kinnder Thinktwice (post 7) for driver Stephane Brosseau and another contender is Auguste (Bar Hopping) from post 8 with Pascal Berube in the sulky.

The two-year-old trotting fillies are featured in the 9th race for a purse of $10,000. The opening round winner Kenogami Courage was not entered, so the race is wide-open and features Apocalypse Alpha (Wheeling N Dealin) post 1 and Duende (Lookslikeachpndale) post 3 going for their maiden victories.

Also on the program is a Preferred-Handicap Trot (7th race) and a Preferred-Handicap Pace for Mares (14th race).
