Despite starting from post eight over a muddy track, six-year-old pacer Bets Beach prevailed Sunday afternoon at Hippodrome Trois-Rivières, earning his third victory in as many starts this year.
The son of All Bets Off blasted off the gate to seize command from Tignanello through a first quarter in :29.2. Driven by Pascal Bérubé for trainer Yves Tessier, Bets Beach maintained the tempo with fractions of :57.4 and 1:26.4 before stopping the clock in 1:57.2. Pyrenees Hanover rallied from the back of the pack to finish second, ahead of Tignanello.
Midway through the card, Delco Dynamo pulled off an upset by returning to the winner’s circle in 2:01.3 for owner-driver Michel Audet. It marked the seven-year-old pacer’s first victory since last September, as he overcame the challenge of post nine. Delco Dynamo paid $102.20 to win.
Finally, three-year-old pacer Bernard did not disappoint, delivering a gate-to-wire performance in 1:58.1 with William Roy in the sulky. The son of Sportswriter remained undefeated in his career while defeating Hound On The Beach and Lets Get Pickled.
Hippodrome Trois-Rivières will begin its summer schedule featuring two race programs per week starting Thursday, June 4. First post time will be 5:30 p.m.
