Cal Expo meet opens Friday

Harness racing returns to Cal Expo Friday evening (Dec. 13) under the Watch and Wager LLC banner with 12 races on tap.

The first two weeks will feature Friday racing with a 6:45 p.m. (PST) first post, while Saturday racing will be added on Dec. 28 with a starting time of 6:30 p.m.

An Open Pace and an Open Trot highlight the first program, with Allmyx’sliventexas and Alilthundadownunda heading the cast for the Open Pace while fan favorite Pridecrest is featured in the Open Trot.

Looking at the stakes schedule for the 39-night meet, there will be a total of $420,000 distributed in the California Sire Stakes, with $230,000 earmarked for the late-closing events.
