In consideration of the safety and well-being of equine athletes, horsemen and women, and patrons, some adjustments are making to the racing schedule for the upcoming week due to forecasted excessive heat across a widespread region spanning from the Central to Southeast U.S.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 90s (32°C) on Wednesday but then hover near 100 (38°C)  on Thursday. The forecast also calls for high humidity that will send heat indexes near 110. Forecasts for the Western Kentucky area call for heat index ratings in the range of 105-115 degrees (40-45OC) on Friday. The heat is anticipated to abate somewhat after Friday.
