Changes due to extreme heat

In consideration of the safety and well-being of equine athletes, horsemen and women, and patrons, some adjustments are making to the racing schedule for the upcoming week due to forecasted excessive heat across a widespread region spanning from the Central to Southeast U.S.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 90s (32°C) on Wednesday but then hover near 100 (38°C)  on Thursday. The forecast also calls for high humidity that will send heat indexes near 110. Forecasts for the Western Kentucky area call for heat index ratings in the range of 105-115 degrees (40-45OC) on Friday. The heat is anticipated to abate somewhat after Friday.

Wednesday August 23

Indianapolis – Post time at 10 a.m. instead of 2:30 p.m.
Hoosier Park – Post time at 7:00 p.m. instead of 6:15 p.m.

Thursday August 24

Hoosier Park – canceled
Indianapolis – canceled

Friday August 25

Ellis Park – canceled
Hoosier Park – Post time at 7:00 p.m. instead of 6:15 p.m.

Saturday August 26

Hoosier Park – Post time at 7:00 p.m. instead of 6:15 p.m.

Monday August 28

Ellis Park – program added at 12:45 p.m.
Indianapolis – program added at 2:30 p.m.
