Drivers recovering from Ocean accident

At 2h07, on July 7, 2021 By OCEAN DOWNS

During the 12th race at Ocean Downs on Monday (July 5), an accident occurred around the last turn into the stretch, when Brock N Brian spooked, fell, and caused a domino effect for trailing horses.

All drivers are recovering. Sean Bier and Timmy Offutt were both taken to hospital, where both were admitted. Declan Donoway was checked out at the track and drove in the next race.

Bier is recovering from surgery to repair a broken femur. Offutt is currently being monitored in the intensive care unit. He had some bleeding on his brain and he suffered two fractured vertebrae. The bleeding has since stopped. Offutt was able to get up and walk this afternoon with assistance.

Horses involved in the accident suffered minor cuts, and are all recovering.
