Flamboro Downs to hold Super Sunday Card

At 0h02, on February 10, 2024 By FLAMBORO DOWNS

Flamboro Downs will be the only track operating in Canada this Sunday (Feb. 9) as it holds its own Super Sunday.

Holding a 12-race card, Flamboro Downs will offer players an opportunity to wager on something other than the big game down in Las Vegas.

“We will have a 12-race card and there will be our usual guarantees on our pick fives,” said Chad Gates, Flamboro Downs general manager. “So, there are many wagering opportunities for [players].”

Racing on the Sunday of the Super Bowl isn’t anything new to Flamboro Downs, who have done it for years now, keeping up with their tradition as one of the few tracks that opt to race on Sunday evenings, in general.

“We’ve always run on Super Bowl Sunday,” said Gates. “One of the reasons for that is for the horse people and to allow them to race for the allocated purse money.

“Secondly, is to showcase the Ontario racing product. With the limited number of racetracks that do race at nights on Sunday we are able to show our Ontario racing product to the rest of the world.

“It really opens up the door for us to showcase our product of Flamboro Downs and for Ontario Racing.”

First post time for the Super Sunday card is at 6:55 p.m.
