Freshman pacing colts to visit Monticello Raceway

At 0h35, on August 1, 2021 By MONTICELLO

Four divisions of New York Sire Stakes featuring 2-year-old pacing colts are on tap at Monticello Raceway for Monday (Aug. 2) with each division worth $25,000.

The 11-race card also includes three $15,000 Excelsior A class races and two $6,600 Excelsior B events.  This marks the third NYSS event of the year for the 2-year-old colts, and a few have already distinguished themselves as the real deals.

In the first Sire Stake carded as race three, Pleaseletmeknow comes into the race with an excellent resume having won three of four lifetime starts.  The son of American Ideal-I Said Please was a Sire Stake winner his last start at Saratoga in 1:55.4, a second in NYSS action at Buffalo, and was a heat and final winner of the Springfield Series. He’s banked $109,000 thus far this season.

Pleaseletmeknow will start from the rail with regular driver Matt Kakaley for trainer Travis Alexander.  Forrest Blu (post two – Tyler Buter) and Top Genius (post four – Jordan Stratton) both won their respective Sire Stakes at Saratoga in their last starts.

The second Sire Stake (race four) features Kingsville (post one), who scored in 1:54.1 in a wire-to-wire performance in Sire Stake at Saratoga last week. Jason Bartlett will drive. Pickup Man Hanover has one win and a second in this company and will start from post six with Tyler Buter at the helm.

Stretch The Line (post one- Tyler Buter) and Hurrikane Chuck (post seven – Mark MacDonald) are the early favorites in the third division, carded as race seven.

In the final Sire Stake, Bluesville (post six – MacDonald) is looking to shed his role as bridesmaid and earn his first win after two second-place finishes in 2021, including the July 24 NYSS race at Saratoga. The son of Huntsville-Dontcrymetheblues is owned by Purple Haze Stables LLC and is trained by George Ducharme.

Post time is 12:10 p.m.
