A pair of Ontario-sired 3-year-olds turf stakes, the $100,000 Thunder Bay, and $100,000 Lake Superior, share the spotlight on Friday afternoon’s card at Woodbine.

Nine fillies, including Pleasure’s Gold, will take to the E.P. Taylor Turf Course for the 7-furlong Thunder Bay, slated as race five.

A homebred owned by Elizabeth and Gordon Lickrish, the daughter of Souper Speedy-Good as Gold brings a 2-2-2 record from six starts into Friday’s engagement.

Trained by Tino Attard, Pleasure’s Gold was second when she tested out the grass for the first time in the 5-furlong Georgian Bay Stakes over the Inner Turf at Woodbine on August 12. The race was the opening leg of the Ontario Sired Heritage Series for sophomore fillies.

Other starters include Souper Flashy (trained by Attard’s son Kevin), who was second to Pleasure’s Gold in the Rondeau Bay, and Sacred Dancer, a four-length winner in her latest effort, on September 29 at Woodbine.

Seven starters will vie for top prize in the Lake Superior.
