Horseman and industry leader Brian Paquet died, 78

At 0h53, on August 21, 2023 By DANIEL DELISLE

It is with great sadness that we have just learned the sudden passing of Mr. Brian Paquet, who is certainly considered a leader in horse racing in Quebec. His death is all the more dazzling as he was still very active in recent weeks and with his volunteer work in the industry.

To speak of Brian is to speak of a man who was deeply involved in the industry without ever mentioning his hours and his pennies spent in the industry close to his heart.  An owner and above all as an active breeder, the Panic horses will remain engraved and remembered for decades to come. Brian was one of those behind the resumption of racing in Quebec.

He inserted himself, his knowledge and dedication toward the progress of the industry like it was many years ago. It was within the CJQ board that he distinguished himself. He was one of those on whom all horse people in Quebec could count. His deep respect for people around him led him to express himself with his suave accent in the language of Molière. What a pleasant and simple man, easy to be around, listening to everyone.

He will be difficult to replace at the Jockey Club.

The members of the Jockey Club are sending their most sincere and deepest condolences to first and foremost his family, then to his many friends across Canada as his reputation spanning the whole country,

Brian, you will be missed by everyone in the industry including the horses!

Further details will follow in the coming days.
