Meadowlands Pace draws 16

The 2022 Meadowlands Pace has attracted 16 declarations, resulting in a pair of $50,000 elimination races on Saturday (July 9).

Trainer Tony Alagna leads the way with four horses entered from his powerful stable, three by Tony’s 2013 Meadowlands Pace winner and now prolific sire Captaintreacherous who is represented by no fewer than six among the entrants.

It is a very evenly matched group, that remarkably includes all ten horses listed on Dave Little’s “Road To The The Meadowlands Pace” where Hammering Hank has held the top spot for virtually the entire time.

Beach Glass, second in last month’s North America Cup and on Little’s Pace list, is making the trip stateside for Canadian trainer Brent MacGrath and his partners in the Schooner II Stable. Beach Glass will attempt to capture for this group the only trophy denied his sire, Somebeachsomewhere, during his legendary career in what was perhaps the greatest edition of the Pace in 2008.

The top ten finishers will return for the Meadowlands Pace final for “The Biggest Party in Harness Racing” on Saturday (July 16).

The Graduate Series finals will head up the supporting card on Saturday.
