National Caretakers Day at Hippodrome 3R

At 0h11, on September 4, 2022 By STEVEN WOLF

This Sunday (September 4), the staff at the Hippodrome 3R along with Standardbred Canada, will pay tribute to the unsung heroes of harness racing, the caretakers/grooms, throughout the race card.

There will be special presentations to the caretaker of every horse racing at H3R Sunday, announcements of the caretaker of every horse racing and also a gift presentation to the caretaker of every winning horse.

On the racetrack Sunday there are both a Preferred 2 Pace and a Preferred 3 Pace co-feature events.

The Preferred 2 Pace takes place in the 6th race where last week’s return winner, Goldinthebadlands (Badlands Hanover) has drawn post two for driver Pascal Berube and they are the 5/2 morning line favorite.

Last week at H3R, Goldinthebadlands was at odds of 5-1 when he came first-over for Berube and was able to grind it out right to the wire, winning by a head in 1:54.4. He is trained by Marc-andre Simoneau and it was his 9th win of the season.

Goldinthebadlands has been ultra-consistent, finishing first or second in his last five starts.

His main competition will come from Siddhartha (post 3), who has finished second in six of his last eight starts, Snap Test (post 1) who saw his three-race win streak come to an end last week and Mickeymaksomespeed (post 6) who has won two of his last three starts.

The 9th race Preferred 3 spots BS Tyrrific (post 4) and driver Pascal Berube starting from post four. He has been a game third in his last three starts and is dropping in class.

Also in the race is Prairie Mystic (post 2) who has not missed hitting the board in his last eight starts, winning two of his last three outings.

First race post time Sunday is 12:00 noon.
