Nine is fine for Kakaley Saturday night at Yonkers

At 1h14, on June 26, 2023 By YONKERS

Matt Kakaley started out hot on Saturday night’s (June 24) 10-race program at MGM Yonkers Raceway and stayed that way the entirety of the proceedings, winning nine times and finishing second in the one event he wasn’t victorious in. With that effort, he joined Luc Ouellette, Walter Case and Stephane Bouchard in the record book at Yonkers for most wins by a driver on a single card.

Kakaley swept the first four races with Deep Infatuation N [1:53.3], Imma Be [1:54], HP Xanadu [1:54.3] and Abruzzo [1:54.1] but then had to settle for the second-place spot behind Diamondbeach, driven by George Brennan to a 1:52.2 victory, in the fifth dash.

It was just a short break from the winner’s circle, though, as Kakaley closed out the night by prevailing with Feelin Red Hot [1:53.3], Toccoa Falls [1:56], Miss Chantilly N [1:54.1], Stellar Yankee [1:51.4] and Magical Journey [1:56.4].

In total, Kakaley had a 12-victory day, as before he came to MGM Yonkers Raceway, he netted a hat trick at Pocono.
