The New York Sire Stakes hosts its 2024 “Day of Champions” this Saturday (Sept. 7) at historic Yonkers Raceway in Yonkers, N.Y. The top 2- and 3-year-old Standardbreds in New York’s most prestigious harness racing series will compete in eight races with their eyes set on being named a 2024 Sire Stakes champion. Each New York Sire Stakes final will feature $225,000 in purses.

“We have witnessed extraordinary performances and numerous historic milestones this year in the New York Sire Stakes,” said Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund Executive Director Ralph Scunziano. “I would like to congratulate all the owners, breeders, trainers, drivers and equine athletes that have made it to this Saturday’s Day of Champions in New York’s premier harness racing program.”

Post time is set for 12 p.m., with the race program also featuring the $1 million MGM Yonkers International Trot as part of the afternoon card.

“Day of Champions” marks the second of three 2024 Series finals that the New York Sire Stakes conducts, followed by the Excelsior Series finals taking place on Friday (Sept. 13) at Vernon Downs Casino Hotel in Vernon, N.Y. The County Fair Series finals were held at Goshen Historic Track on Sunday (Sept. 1).
