At 0h48, on August 18, 2023 By VERNON DOWNS

Vernon Downs welcomes the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Friday (Aug. 19).

The 5-2 morning line favorite Wild Ticket (Brian Sears) should be the one to beat in the $108,200 leg of the NYSS. Marcus Melander trains the Chapter Seven-On The Wild Side colt. He has two wins and a third in three starts. The colt has NYSS wins at Tioga Downs and Saratoga.

Ake Svanstedt trains the 3-1 second choice Situationship (Jason Bartlett). The Chapter Seven-Meegan Hall colt has a win and a second in three starts. His win was in a leg of the NYSS at Saratoga.

Bargain (Jimmy Whittemore) has two NYSS wins and has won a leg of the Kindergarten Series. He should be a major contender as well. Nancy Takter trains the Chapter Seven-Batoutahill colt. In five career starts he has three wins with two seconds and has earned $134,300.
