Petrova has another star from Majestic Joy

A foundation broodmare in the Standardbred industry is usually a mare that produces numerous stakes winners year after year. And fortunately for Quebec owner, breeder and trainer Denitza Petrova, she has one.

The mare’s name is Majestic Joy and on Friday (Aug. 26) her latest production, Kinnder Thinktwice (Wheeling N Dealin), is the morning line favorite in one of two $10,000 third leg divisions of the Future Stars Series at the Hippodrome 3R.

Petrova, from Melbourne, has owned Majestic Joy since she first started raising and racing her own foals.

Kinnder Thinktwice is the sixth foal from the mare and there is a half sister at the farm that is a yearling by Muscle Mass. Four of the first five foals all made the races and three of them are Quebec Champions.

They are mostly sired by different stallions, thus making Majestic Joy the key factor in their racing careers as a foundation broodmare.

“This broodmare is just amazing,” Petrova said. “She has six foals of racing age and five are stakes winners.”

Kinnder Thinktwice is a half brother to Kinnder Dangerous 4,1:58.1h, Kinderunbelievable 6,1:57.4f, Kinnder High Class 3,1:56.2 and Kinnder Dangerzone 4,1:58.1.

Petrova names them all Kinnder, which is after the Kinder Joy Egg candy that she loved growing up.

As for Kinnder Thinktwice, the world is his oyster as he has won two of his four starts this season, the fastest last week at H3R with a lifetime best 2:02 mile.

Kinnder Thinktwice starts from post two in the second race Friday at H3R. It is the third and final preliminary round of the Future Stars Series. After Friday’s start, Kinnder Thinktwice will prepare for his $55,000 final on Sunday, September 11 at H3R on their Super Sunday race card.

When during his early training did Petrova know she had another stakes winner in Kinnder Thinktwice?

“We never really know for sure if they will make it as a two-year-old,” Petrova said. “He always had this athletic look and smooth gate so I was excited about him all winter long.”

Stephane Brosseau has been driving the colt since it started racing. Will Kinnder Thinktwice be able to improve on his race record?

“Stéphane (Brosseau) is doing an amazing job with him,” Petrova explained. “He has been teaching him how to race and it’s been great so far. I think and hope he does have speed left in him to improve. We will just have to see how they go on Friday.”

Competition in the race will come from Auguste from post five for driver Pascal Berube. A gelded son of Bar Hopping, Auguste was second to Kinnder Thinktwice in their last start and prior to that he won a leg of the Future Stars Series in 2:02. It was his lone win in six starts this year.

“The competition is pretty hard,” Petrova explained. “There are some very nice colts in there, so I hope he goes well and continues to learn for the big race.”

The trotting fillies are showcased in the 6th race, also for a purse of $10,000.

The morning line favorite is Kenogami Courage (Lookslikeachpndale) from post three who will also be driven by Stephane Brosseau. She has won two of her three starts with a record of 2:02.1.

Other contenders include return winner Tite Been En Mass (Muscle Mass) for driver Kevin Maguire from post four and BBC News from post two for trainer-driver Marc Belanger.

First race post time Friday is 4:00 pm.
