Posts drawn for MGM Springfield Stakes final at Yonkers

On Monday afternoon (July 12), the post position draw was held for Friday night’s (July 16) $150,000 MGM Springfield Stakes final for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers at Yonkers Raceway.

Pleaseletmeknow won the fastest elimination (1:54.1) but got saddled with post position seven in the final, nearly mirroring his stablemate American Courage, who will leave from the ten-hole in Saturday (July 17) night’s Meadowlands Pace final. Matt Kakaley has the call on the Travis Alexander-trained American Ideal gelding for owner/breeder Fiddler’s Creek Stables LLC.

Second elimination winner (1:56) Gone Before Dawn had even worse fortune than Pleaseletmeknow, as he wound up with post eight. Jason Bartlett is listed to drive Gone Before Dawn, a colt from the first crop of Huntsville. He is co-owned by trainer Andrew Harris in partnership with Bowie Racing LLC and was bred by Steve Jones.

Letmecallyouback had the best result in the draw of the elimination winners, landing post position five for Joe and Jenn Bongiorno. A 1:55.3 victor in his elimination, Letmecallyouback is a Huntsville gelding owned by Joe Di Scala Jr., Pit Bull Stable LLC, and Patrick O’Brien. He was bred by 30 Plus Stable and was purchased for $42,000 at last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.

The MGM Springfield Stakes final will go as race eight on Friday night’s 12-race program, which gets underway at 7:15 p.m. The full field with listed drivers and trainers is as follows:

1-American Artist K (Jason Bartlett/Aaron Lamber)
