The $2.24 million Massachusetts Sire Stake was back in town at Plainridge Park on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 17) for the third leg of action for 2-year-old trotters and pacers of both sexes that went postward in four $60,000 divisions and trainer George Ducharme’s stable was on point as three of his entered trainees won three consecutive divisions of the state sponsored series, two in record-breaking fashion.

The Massachusetts Sire Stakes continues on Monday (Oct. 18) with four fields of 3-year-old trotters and pacers of both sexes competing for a total of $240,000. Two of the races are non-betting and will be contested at 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. The regular pari-mutuel card that features two more divisions has its first post set at 2 p.m. The $800,000 (est.) Massachusetts Sire Stake finals will be held the following week at Plainridge Park on Monday (Oct. 25) starting at 2 p.m.
