Track expansion at Grand River

At 0h53, on April 27, 2023 By GRAND RIVER RACEWAY

It is with great excitement that Grand River Raceway (GRR), with support from Ontario Racing, announces they are proceeding with the construction of a 5/8-mile track. Work will begin mid-August 2023 and is set to be completed by the end of April 2024.

The work being done also includes new LED lighting, track surface, and timer boxes.

“This is a great opportunity for GRR and we are eager to begin working on this project,” says Doug McCaig, Facilities Manager, Grand River Raceway.  “The track expansion is a strong addition to the racing community here in Elora and the surrounding area. We thank Ontario Racing for their commitment and support in helping GRR bring this project to life.”

The track expansion from the current ½ mile oval will further elevate the racing experience at GRR for the horses, horse people, and racing fans.

GRR is excited to welcome fans back to the track starting Friday, June 2, 2023! This year will mark their 20th racing season.
