Vernon Downs to host NYSS for 2-year-old trotting fillies

Vernon Downs will host three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Friday (Aug. 19).

Highly touted In Italian (Jordan Stratton) is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the $35,900 first division. Ron Burke trains the Chapter Seven-Hemi Blue Chip filly. She is searching for her first career win.

The Noel Daley trained Pride N Joy (Andrew McCarthy) is the 5-2 second choice. The E L Titan-Princess Lilly miss is coming off a Kindergarten Stakes win at The Meadowlands.

The Jim Doherty Memorial winner Instagram Model (McCarthy) is the 7-5 morning line favorite in the $35,900 second division. The Chapter Seven-Check Out Trixie filly is trained by Annie Stoebe. She has two wins in three starts and has amassed $178,625 in lifetime earnings.

Woolco (Tyler Buter) is the 7-2 second choice. Robert Krivelin trains the Chapter Seven-Upside Hanover filly. She has NYSS wins at Monticello and Yonkers.

Ruth Honig (Buter) is the 3-2 morning line favorite in the $35,900 third division. The Chapter Seven-Lady Grey filly is trained by Lucas Wallin. She has two wins in three starts, including a NYSS win at Monticello.

The unbeaten Kayleigh S (Brian Sears) is the 3-1 second choice. Marcus Melander trains the Chapter Seven-Pasithea Face S miss. She is three for three this season with NYSS wins at Yonkers, Batavia, and Saratoga.

The 13-race card starts at 6:05 p.m.
