Winningest horse this season

According to the record books, the winningest trotter or pacer this season in North America is currently a tie with 11 wins each for Century Mach, Linedrive Hanover, Rocks Fantasy and Winning Shadow.

At the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, there is one standout veteran pacer who leads the way already with four wins and his name is Windsun Cheyenne.

Now age 12, four years the senior of any of the six rivals in the 3rd race, Windsun Cheyenne is moving up in class to the Preferred 3 ranks on Sunday for owner-trainer Gina Bragagnolo of Lavaltrie.

The gelded son of Cam’s Card Shark has been on a roll for H3R leading driver Pascal Berube since coming back to H3R. In fact, one of his four wins came on opening day at H3R on May 1. Over the past five starts Windsun Cheyenne has four wins and one second place finish.

The fastest of his victories came two starts back when he was parked out to the first quarter, then wired the field in 1:56.

There was a time when Windsun Cheyenne would compete weekly and was very competitive in the Open Class at H3R. Now, with age beginning to set in, Windsun Cheyenne is not as fast as he used to be. He has a lifetime mark of 1:53.2 taken at age 8.

What Windsun Cheyenne does have is a zest for racing and being competitive. He does his best racing on the front-end as evident by his five wins this year, almost each one on the lead by the half mile marker.

On Sunday, Windsun Cheyenne is the morning line favorite and should be. He starts from post four and has already this season beaten five of his six rivals in the race. Looks like he could add another win to his scoreboard.

In the 6th race Preferred 2 Pace, Siddhartha and driver Steeve Genois look for a repeat performance from post five. Last start the eight-year-old gelding by So Surreal was able to grind it out first-over and still come on in the stretch to win by a neck in 1:55.

Mickeymaksomespeed (post 4) has been off his mark his last two starts for Kiwon Waldron with two fourth place finishes and should be able to wake-up with a better effort here.

The mares go head and head in the 7th race Preferred 3 Mares Pace where Platine Alpha (post 4) races back on just two days rest as she won the Mares Preferred 2 Pace at H3R on Friday in 1:58.2.

Trained by Sylvain Tremblay and his Alpha Stable, Platine Alpha came first-over against La Petite Grise and held her ground, winning by a half-length. She will be driven Sunday by Pascal Berube and goes against rivals Molly Kool (post 3), who also raced Sunday and was third to Platine Alpha, and Fancy Girl (post 1).

First race post time at H3R on Sunday is 12:00 noon.
