A group of 10 women drivers will be in the spotlight for Woodbine’s International Women’s Day Race. The race is just one part of an evening dedicated to International Women’s’ Day, as Woodbine will also have an all-female crew for its simulcast and race-calling coverage.

The International Women’s Day Race will feature the drivers teaming with a field of older pacing mares in an $18,000 overnight event.  The race is carded as Race 3 (7:50 p.m.).

As part of the festivities, Former Woodbine host/racing analyst Dawn Lupul will return to handle Track Announcer duties for the entire card. Lupul made history in 2009 by becoming the first female in Canada to call a full card of live racing. Over the following years, Lupul regularly filled in as the track announcer at Woodbine and Mohawk Park.

Woodbine’s simulcast coverage will be led host/racing analyst Monique Vág and notable racing personality Kelly Spencer. The simulcast coverage will also include various guest appearances and selections from female participants, including Melissa Keith and Caity Hillier.

Post time for Monday’s card is 7 p.m.
