On Daniel Delisle’s track…

Since when are you interested in horse racing ?

Always. I was eight or nine years old and being from Trois-Rivières, I was going for a walk in the corner of the Hippodrome stable. It piqued my curiosity and I developed a personal interest, a real passion.

What led you to develop such a passion ?

Spending a lot of time in the stables sector, I got to know the horses, their performance and I became known by people in the community who ended up calling me for advice. My mother was desperate, people often called home. I started betting and spent my full weekends at Blue Bonnet with varying degrees of success until the mid-eighties, in fact, until I bought a horse. I have owned horses three or four years and in 1988, I was offered a specialized column on horses in Le Nouvelliste and I sold my horses, felt uncomfortable to write on the subject and to be also owner.

What does mutual betting bring you ?

I do not bet for years but my pleasure is to make recommendations and when it works, it’s worth gold. It allows me more objectivity and detachment as commentator and analyst.

What are the main things you remember to bet ?

I look carefully at the races in every detail and learn lessons for the next races. I retain them and note the important elements.

Your biggest gain in career ?

An amount of $ 1,800 with a Trifecta in Trois-Rivières
