After a five-month layoff, Beauty Is Blind returned to action on opening day at Hippodrome Trois-Rivières. In five starts since her comeback, the 9-year-old pacing mare is still searching for her first victory, posting a record of 0-2-1. Trained by Marc-André Simoneau, Beauty Is Blind will look to break through for her first win of the season in Thursday’s sixth race at Trois-Rivières. Post time for the first race is 5:30 p.m.
Beauty Is Blind comes into the race following a fifth-place finish last Sunday in the Regional Drivers Tournament. With Ryan Guy in the sulky, she was parked the entire mile and still finished just 2¾ lengths behind the winner, who stopped the clock in 1:58.1. Pascal Bérubé has chosen to drive her this week and will leave from post five.
The challenge will not be easy, however, as Dialmeup will be seeking a third consecutive victory and is expected to be the bettors’ favorite. Listed as the morning-line favorite, Dialmeup will be driven by Francis Picard for trainer Yves Tessier. She starts from post two after an impressive 1:58.3 victory last time out, a performance that makes her the horse to beat.
Beauty Is Blind appears to be heading in the right direction, but she will need another step forward to upset the red-hot Dialmeup.
