Pascal Berube and Richard Simard each won four races on the Sunday night card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, with Berube taking the Sunday night pacing feature, catch driving National Debt ($7.20) to a 1:52.4 score for owner-trainer Yves Tessier.

It was the second straight Preferred-Handicap win for the 10-year-old stallion by All American Native.

Leaving from post 8, National Debt landed fifth to a :26 opening quarter set by Racemup and Oceanview Magnum.

The pair settled the early squabble with Oceanview Magnum holding the lead but keeping the pace hot to a :54.1 half, all while driver Pascal Berube readied National Debt for an outside bid. Catching cover to three-quarters in 1:22.4, National Debt vaulted around tiring horses to take the lead off the corner and scoot away to a one-and-a-quarter length win over Officer Jones. Racemup held third.

Owned by Francois Morin, National Debt won his 68th race from 202 starts, earning $619,679.

Berube also posted wins with Bs Tyrrific ($9.50), Farmers Tan ($8.20) and Windsun Cheyenne ($4.70).

In the 14th race, Richard Simard dropped into the pocket spot with the 1-2 favourite Undercover Strike while Vero Amore Bi worked to the lead and cut fractions of 28.4, 58.1 and 1:27. A 29.2 closing panel was enough to earn the Guy Gagnon trainee to win by three-quarter length in 1:56.4.

Simard also won with Shemaksmefelunreal ($10.10), Sos Justified ($5.90) and Twin B Fearless ($4.10).
