Does perfect season continue for Chic Choc Rose?

At 1h25, on August 2, 2024 By STEVE WOLF, Quebec Jockey Club

Everyone’s dream in harness racing is to have an undefeated two-year-old trotting filly. And there is one named Chic Choc Rose (Royalty For Life), who puts her early unbeaten streak on the line Friday (Aug. 2) at the Hippodrome 3R in Tros-Rivieres, Quebec.

Chic Choc Rose hails from the red-hot stable of Marie-Claude Auger, who bred, trains and drives the filly that she co-owns with Catheline Pelletier and Arianne Girard.,

On Friday, Chic Choc Rose is the morning line favorite in the 8th race, one of two $7,500 divisions of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old trotting fillies. She is currently unbeaten after two starts.

Starting from post two, Chic Choc Rose comes into the race off an opening round division of the series victory where she led from start to finish by two and three-quarter lengths with Auger in the sulky in 2:03.3. That mile was faster than her colt counterparts have trotted.

Her competition in the race will come from Massive Emotion (post 4), who was second to Chic Choc Rose in her last start for driver Pascal Berube. Soleo (post 3) is another contender for driver Stephane Brosseau.

The $7,500 first division for the fillies is the 2nd race where Denitza Petrova’s Kinnder Kahina (Northern Escort) heads the field from post three for driver Robert Shepherd. She was a game second in her last start, trotting her last quarter mile in :30.2. Kinnder Kahina was bred, owned and trained by Petrova.

Other rivals in the well-matched field include Miche Charm post 1) for driver Guy Gagnon, Masoterapeute (post 2) with Pierre Marc Longpre in the sulky and newcomer Elle Est Belle (post five), who ships in from Ontario where she was second in a 2:02 qualifying race at Mohawk Park and is making her pari-mutuel debut for the renowned Determination Stable.

The trotting colts will do battle in the 4th race for a purse of $10,000. Last week Muscles Du Haras (Muscle Mass) was a winner and has returned and drawn post two for driver Marie-Claude Auger.

Last week Muscles Du Haras was able to wire the field in a Quebec-bred special. Holding on at the wire by a half a length in 2:04.2. He is trained by Claude Cadieux.

Also in the field is series opening round winner, Im Just A Gigolo (post 3) for driver Jerome Lombart, who also bred, owns and trains the colt. He wired the field in his maiden win in 2:07.1.

The race action gets underway Friday at 4:00 pm with an 11-race card. Sunday’s card starts at 12:00 noon and features the second round of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old pacers.
