Don’t B Blue won for the 11th time in 15 season starts on Friday (May 8) at The Meadows, giving him sole possession of the national dash win lead for horses of all ages. The 4-year-old pacer isn’t slowing down, as he set a new lifetime mark of 1:50.4 with the victory, going wire to wire. He cut fractions of :26.2, :54.2 and 1:22.1 en route to the victor for trainer Brandon Presto and driver Dave Palone. Don’t B Blue has raced for several stables this year, and was claimed again on Friday, this time for $15,000 by the Dirk Simpson Stable.
Several Meadows regulars are currently in the top 10 nationally in wins, thanks in part to their local success. Aaron Merriman is No. 1 on the list with 299 wins, while Justin Irvine is fifth (178) and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. is seventh (170). In the Universal Driver Rating standings, Dave Palone is fourth (.405), followed by Wrenn in fifth (.390) and Merriman in seventh (.358).
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will race three days this week – Thursday, Friday and Saturday (May 14, 15 and 16) – all at 12:45 p.m. Friday’s card will feature Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and PA Stallion Series stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters.
