Final Preliminary Leg Ahead of Québec-Bred Series Finals

The final berths for the Québec-Bred Series finals will be decided Sunday at Hippodrome Trois-Rivières as the third and final preliminary leg for 4-year-olds and older pacers will be contested. Three divisions are on tap, two for mares (Races 3 and 7) and one for horses and geldings (Race 5), leading into the July 5 finals, where $100,000 in purses will be on the line.
The opening mare division, featured in Race 3, shapes up as a highly competitive affair. Better Kissthe Men returns with legitimate aspirations after winning a conditioned event before finishing a strong third behind Whitemountaincammy in the most recent preliminary leg. Drawing the rail should prove advantageous as she takes on Kiss Me Bad, an impressive winner in her latest outing. The 2025 series champion, Kiss Me Bad, will once again be the one to beat despite drawing post seven.
The second mare division, Race 7, also promises an intriguing battle. Several mares enter off solid performances in the previous preliminary legs and will be looking to secure their place in next Sunday’s final. Race dynamics could prove critical in a division where little separates the leading contenders. One mare to watch is Whitemountaincammy, who upset the field at odds of 28-1 in the previous preliminary leg. She will now try to prove that victory was no fluke.
In the male division, Race 5, all eyes will be on Boomboom Tonight, who made a spectacular return to action last Sunday. Making his first start since September 2024, the Elisabeth Pothier trainee picked up right where he left off, winning in 1:54.4 while establishing a new seasonal track record at Hippodrome Trois-Rivières. A winner of 11 of his 19 career starts, the son of Sportswriter appears to have lost none of his winning form despite a lengthy layoff caused by a serious injury.
The task, however, will be anything but easy. Bets Beach pressed Boomboom Tonight all the way to the wire last Sunday and will be looking to reverse that result this time around.
Beyond the individual division victories, the primary goal remains securing a berth in next Sunday’s lucrative finals. While several contenders will be looking to solidify their status among Québec’s elite, others will be hoping to spring an upset at the perfect time. One thing is certain: with $100,000 in purses awaiting next weekend, every position will matter in this final preliminary leg of the Québec-Bred Series.
