Former Adios Champ to qualify Tuesday

Bythemissal, the former Adios and Breeders Crown champion, will make another local appearance at The Meadows on Tuesday morning (April 14). Now 7 years old, Bythemissal, trained by Ron Burke, will be leaving from post 6 in the fifth qualifying race. Chris Page, who guided Bythemissal to his 2022 Adios victory, is slated to drive. It will be the second qualifying effort of the year for the star pacer, following a 1:52.3 effort last week. A total of eight qualifiers will be held Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m. (EDT). The races can be viewed live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page.

The April Spring series events at The Meadows will wrap up this week, starting with the Watson & Margaret Provost Memorial Trotting Series final on Wednesday (April 15). Carded as the opener on the 13-race card, the $20,100 trot is led on the morning line by the Vernon Beachy-trainee Wendalyn Hanover. The Greenshoe filly finished third in her only start this season, last week’s second series leg.  That race was won by Skyline Salty Girl, out of the Altmeyer-Wilder Stable, in 1:54.4. She will leave from post 2.

On Thursday (April 16), the Hunter Myers Memorial Trotting Series final will take place as Race 6 on the program, for a purse of $21,100. The first two series legs each featured two divisions, and all four races had a different winner. Beer In My Hand (Cody Schadel Stable), Hamlet Hall (Norm Parker Stable), and Bill Daughtery-trained stablemates Harlem Hanover and Glenlivet will all meet in the final on Thursday.  Harlem Hanover, a son of Bar Hopping, has the quickest win of the group, a 1:54.2 mile with driver Dave Palone last week.
