Greenshoe trotter favored in Wednesday Series Final

At 0h03, on March 18, 2026 By The Meadows

Emmett Hanover, a 3-year-old gelding by Greenshoe, will be the favorite in Wednesday’s (March 18) $17,800 final of the Corwyn and Sandie Greene Memorial Trotting Series at The Meadows. The Justin Pirillo-trained trotter has won three in a row, including both prealiminary series legs. In his last three starts, he has won by a combined 19-1/2 lengths, including a lifetime best 1:55.4 win in mid-February. Aaron Merriman has driven Emmett Hanover in all of his recent starts. The series final is set for Race #4 on the Wednesday card, with Emmett Hanover drawing post 6 in the field of eight.

Gannon’s Veloucity, a 4-year-old son of Sweet Lou, will look to keep his six-race win streak intact in the final of Wilbur Zendt Pacing Series this Friday (March 20). After starting his career with a 1-for-10 record at age two, Gannon’s Veloucity, a homebred out of the Ron Burke Stable, made his first appearance as a 3-year-old in April of 2025, winning in a series race at The Meadows in 1:53. However, it proved to be his only appearance of the season. Nine months later, he requalified on January 6, 2026, before finishing second in a NW5 conditioned race on January 17. Since then, Gannon’s Veloucity has reeled off six straight wins, including a career-best 1:52.1 on February 13. He won both legs of the series this month, and will likely be the heavy favorite in Friday’s final.

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is currently in its winter 3-day-per-week schedule, with racing on Wednesday through Friday afternoons at 12:45 p.m. 13 races are carded for this Wednesday.
