Tami Bobo’s Simplification, a hot prospect for next year’s 3-year-old stakes following a recent dazzling maiden winner, will make his highly anticipated return to action Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
The Antonio Sano-trained son of Not This Time, who will face five other 2-year-olds in a six-furlong optional claiming allowance carded as Race 3, romped to a 16 ¾-length victory while making his second lifetime start in a six-furlong sprint Oct. 23. The Florida-bred colt ran six-furlongs in 1:09 4/5 while earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 92.
“He always has trained good,” said Sano, who’s promising trainee finished an even fifth over the Tapeta course before his brilliant performance over the main track. “I told the owner before he ran, ‘This is an excellent horse. “He is the best horse in my barn, right now.”
Sano, who saddled Gunnevera for a victory in the 2017 Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream, expressed confidence that Simplification will have no problem stretching out in distance.
Bassett Stables’ Of a Revolution, who has been idle since capturing his debut at Gulfstream May 22, is among Simplification’s five challengers. In his debut, the Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained son of Maclean’s Music defeated Cajun’s Magic, who went on to break his maiden before winning the $100,000 FSS Dr. Fager and finishing second in both the $200,000 FSS Affirmed and the $400,000 FSS In Reality.
