It’s “Guys & Dolls” battling Sunday at Hippodrome 3R

This Sunday (Oct. 15) at the Hippodrome 3R it will be the epic battle of stage, screen and harness racing with “Guys & Dolls” taking place in the Preferred-Handicap Pace.

Three fillies and mares will be taking on six older horses in the featured 10th race, the main event of the 11-race card that gets underway at high noon Sunday.

Between the “Guys & Dolls” there are four return winners in the field with the race favorite role bestowed upon Partyintheshadows (Shadow Play), who starts from post five for driver Robert Shepherd.

Last week the five-year-old gelding was parked first-over for nearly the entire one mile Preferred Pace and still was able to come on in the stretch to win by a half a length in 1:58.2 over a sloppy, rain-soaked track. It was the fourth win on the season and first win for Partyintheshadows since joining the David Pilon stable two starts back.

Spectrum Seelster (Mach Three) moves up in class to the Preferred ranks and the seven-year-old gelding enters the feature on a two-race winning streak for trainer Kevin Maguire and goes from post seven for driver Jocelyn Gendron. He also raced over the sloppy H3R oval last week with a 1:59.2 score by four and one quarter lengths.

Leading the fillies and mares in the race is Celia Bayama (Bettors Delight). The former Quebec Champion goes from post three for driver Stephanie Brosseau and trainer Jack Reid. She is entered off a two-week layoff and three starts back was a 1:55 winner at H3R.

Other “Doll” contenders include return winner Jimbelina (post 4) and the lone filly in the race, Godiva Shadow Girl (post 2).

For the “Guys” there remains return winner Sports Bettor (post 6), a 2:00.4 winner over the off-track last week, GA Speed Gaby (post 9), who saw his four-race winning streak come to an end against stablemate Partyintheshadows last week, D Gs De Vito (post 1), who was second in the Preferred Pace last week and Uncontrollable (post 8).

First race post time is 12:00 noon Sunday.
