Hippodrome 3R launches its 2026 harness racing season this Sunday, May 10 at noon, kicking things off with a strong 12-race card that reflects solid interest and positive momentum among participants. A total of 40 racing programs are scheduled through early November.
In the afternoon’s featured event for the Preferred class trotters, Kenogami Coco, trained by Daniel Martin and driven by Stéphane Brosseau, has been named the morning-line favorite. Starting from the rail position, the son of Wheeling N Dealing will be making his first start of the year following a successful season highlighted by strong performances at Rideau Carleton. Kenogami Coco also turned heads with an exceptional 1:57.3 mile over the Trois-Rivières oval last September.
His toughest challenger, Rose Run Why Not, will start directly behind him from the second tier with Steeven Genois in the bike. The 8-year-old mare finished behind Kenogami Coco in a qualifying race preparing for her season debut. She will be coupled in the wagering with The Canam Banker, who faces the challenge of starting from the outside post position behind the starting gate.
With the permanent closure of the Rideau-Carleton track, racing fans will notice the presence of several horses from the neighboring province, ensuring exciting competition throughout the card. The return of claiming races and the expanded open stretch also add a new dynamic that promises more spectacular and competitive finishes.
So, the appointment is set for today starting at noon. And for those unable to make it to the City of Laviolette, the Trois-Rivières program will be available on the HPIBet platform as well as in all Quebec betting parlors.
