Racing Saturday and Sunday at Hippodrome 3R

At 21h54, on October 8, 2023 By Steven Wolf

The Hippodrome 3R will feature a weekend of harness racing action both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, October 7 & 8.

The special Saturday card at H3R starts at 1:00 pm and the entire 10-race program is dedicated to the Quebec Regional Fair Circuit’s final card of the 2023 race season.

Many of the young drivers and trainers in Quebec will get to race for the first time at H3R and many of the races also feature trainers getting in the sulky and driving their own horses.

There are also two special races on Saturday, one for just women drivers and the other is just for trainers.

Then on Sunday the nine-race card gets underway at 12:00 noon.

A real slugfest is in store for racing fans Sunday in the 6th race Preferred Pace where return winners GA Speed Gabby (Windfall Blue Chip) takes on DGs De Vito (Sportswriter).

GA Speed Gabby starts from post five for driver Francis Picard. The seven-year-old stallion is on a four-race win streak for trainer David Pilon and owner Josee Patry of Saint-Henri De Levis.

A five-time winner this season, he is moving up to the Preferred Class for the first time. In recent weeks he has shown the ability to win from on or off the pace and has a lifetime mark taken at H3R of 1:54.2 taken three starts back.

DGs De Vito and driver Jonathan Lachance enter the race off a 1:55.2 score last week, his fourth win of the season for trainer Guylaine Fortin and owner-breeder Daniel Surprenant of Saint-Valentin.

Another contender in the field is Partyintheshadows (Shadow Play) from post four for driver Robert Shepherd.

Shepherd, who is usually the regular driver of GS Speed Gabby, elected to drive Partyintheshadows for this race. Both horses are trained by David Pilon.

Partyintheshadows has been racing in Ontario and tied his lifetime mark this year with a 1:52 clocking at Rideau Carleton.
