Red Mile hosts pacing sophomores for round three of Kentucky championship

At 0h05, on August 31, 2021 By THE RED MILE

Kentucky Championship Series action continues on Tuesday (Aug. 31) with the third preliminary for pacing sophomores, with the colts and geldings going in one $40,000 division and the fillies in another $40,000 division.

Colts and geldings kick off the card with a five-horse contest fronted by Goldie’s Legacy, the first-round winner who gets the benefit of the draw over second-choice Komodo Beach. The Jeff Cullipher trainee starts from post one as the even-money favorite on the morning line with Yannick Gingras listed to drive while Komodo Beach, who won last week in the second preliminary, is listed at 8-5 from post four with Todd McCarthy driving for trainer Brett Pelling.

The fillies compete in their dash towards the tail of the card in race eight, with five horses set to align behind the gate. So Irresistible returns as the morning-line choice despite a runner-up finish last week to High Minded, who starts from the pylon post in rein to Todd McCarthy for trainer Linda Toscano. Andrew McCarthy will drive So Irresistible from post four as she makes her second start in the Noel Daley barn.

Tuesday’s card also features three $20,000 divisions of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series – two for the colts and geldings and one for the fillies. The 11-race slate gets underway at 1 p.m.
