Vic Zelenskyy, Date Night Hanover receive top billing Tuesday at The Red Mile

On Tuesday (Sept. 9) The Red Mile will conduct a 15-race card with older male and female trotters competing in two $35,000 third round legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes. These events will be supported by five $10,000 fifth round legs of the Kentucky Wildcat Series for freshman trotters and pacers of each sex.

Vic Zelenskyy seeks third win of the season from four starts
Dexter Dunn and Vic Zelenskyy will commence their mile from post position five in the field of six and are 6-5 on the morning line. Trained by Marcus Melander, the 4-year-old stallion is a son of Greenshoe and Mission Brief.

He enters this contest off a win in the second leg of this series last month in 1:51.1. over 75-1 shot Splendid as the public choice.

Vic Zelenskyy was bred by Mission Brief Stable and was purchased for $550,000 by S R F Stable and Holly Lane Stud East at the 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. His half-sibling, Apex, just captured the second $250,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Final in a lifetime best 1:52.2 on Sept. 5.

The stallion possesses a record of 17-7-2-0 and has earned $131,010.

The field also includes Kentucky champion Dame Good Time. The gelded son of Chapter Seven-Dame Du Lac makes his second start of the season after an eighth-place finish in his 2025 debut over this surface.

David Miller will be holding the lines for trainer Rene Sejthen and the horse will begin trotting from post position three. The 4-year-old is 5-2 on the morning line.

Dame Good Time has banked $605,916 with a resume of 23-7-2-3 and his swiftest times have been produced in Lexington.

The gelding competes as a homebred for John Cummins.

Date Night Hanover eyes another Kentucky championship
Two-time Kentucky champion Date Night Hanover will have the services of Dunn when the 4-year-old daughter of Chapter Seven-Don’t Wait Up begins trotting from post position two in the field of six. The mare is 9-5 on the morning line for trainer Melander.

Date Night Hanover has one win from eight trips to the post this year and that visit to the winner’s circle arrived over this oval last month. The mare has been keeping some tough company by participating in the Graduate Series, the Hambletonian Maturity and the Steele Memorial.

Owned by Jeffrey Snyder and ONDA Racing, Date Night Hanover was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms. She went through the ring on the first day of the 2022 Standardbred Horse Sale for $600,000.

Date Night Hanover has compiled a record of 36-10-3-6 and has earned $857,396.

Black Velvet As and Dan Noble are 2-1 on the morning line and were assigned post position six. The 4-year-old daughter of Archangel-Provide As, resides in Anette Lorentzon’s barn and in her most recent engagement was second to Date Night Hanover in the second leg of this series last month.

The mare is a homebred for ACL Stuteri AB and is seeking her fifth win from 13 starts this season.

In her career, Black Velvet As is 26-7-7-2 and has amassed $269,275 in purses.

Racing will continue through Sunday (Oct. 5), following a Sunday through Wednesday schedule. Fans and horsemen can look forward to 5:05 p.m. post times on Sundays, and 1:00 p.m. post times on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays throughout the meet.
