Fans will get a preview of the Québec-Bred Series final for male trotters on Thursday evening at Hippodrome Trois-Rivières, as nine starters line up behind the starting gate in the third and final preliminary leg of the series. Most of them will return on July 5 for the $25,000 final.
Paradise Moni and Royalty Beer race as a coupled entry for the Kevin Maguire stable, and both remain undefeated in the series. Royalty Beer may attract the most attention following his recent 1:57.3 victory, achieved with remarkable ease. Paradise Moni, meanwhile, showed tremendous determination on June 11, rallying from the back of the field after trailing by six lengths at the half before drawing off to win by more than four lengths in 1:58.3.
Royalty Beer will start from post 8 with Pascal Bérubé in the sulky, while Denis St-Pierre will drive Paradise Moni, who leaves from post 5.
Post position could prove to be a key factor in the battle for the placings. Kenogami Coco draws the rail and may look to seize the early lead, but he will not be alone in vying for favorable early position. Last Try and Frido P V are also quick starters. It will be interesting to see the strategy employed by each driver, and perhaps we may even witness an upset. After all, everything is decided on the racetrack.
In the trotting mare division, fans will witness another showdown between MVPS Daughter and Chic Choc Rose, with each having captured one preliminary leg. Fans may be on their feet when the field turns for home.
First post for the 10-race card is set for 5:30 p.m.
